Dead-Heading.com connects people who have delivery needs with people who are already coming right past shipper's pickup and destination needs.  If you deliver tractors, cars, etc. and are tired of driving 1/2 of your total distance with an empty trailer, you have found the answer to make your trip more profitable.  Likewise if you have bought or want to buy an antique car, tractor, etc. but don't know how you're going to get it home, Dead-Heading.com is your answer. Dead-Heading.com has implemented a very sophisticated searching algorithm to select those shippers that are directly in the path of the hauler's pickup and delivery needs.  The search engine will additionally take into consideration the additional miles the hauler has agreed he/she would drive out of his/her way to make a delivery.  The weight of the delivery item in question is also compared to the maximum load the hauler indicates he/she can carry.  Shippers and haulers can both list and search for free with a small subscription fee to see the lister's contact information which is only required after a match has been found for free.

Q1) Does Dead-Heading.com cost me anything to use?
A1) Dead-Heading.com is totally free for haulers to list their intended trips and also for shippers to list their delivery needs.  It is also free for haulers to search for shippers and for shippers to search for haulers.  There is a small subscription fee to be able to see the contact information for a lister once you have found a lister who is a match between the shipper and hauler based on the route, departure date and weight of the item.

Q2) How does Dead-Heading.com work?
A2) Dead-Heading.com is built around a highly sophisticated searching technique that searches for prospective haulers that are passing by the shipper's pickup and destination needs during the searcher's preferred pick up date range.  The lister's planned departure date is used to compare to the searcher's beginning and ending pick up date range.  It also only selects those haulers who can accomodate the total weight requirements entered by the shipper.  Additionally if the hauler has indicated he is willing to travel out of his way, it will also take that into consideration when presenting the list of potential haulers to the shipper or hauler.

Q3) How do I know my information is secure?

A3) Dead-Heading.com uses the industry standard SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) to transmit your credit card information when paying for your listings.

Q4) What do I do once I have a customer and I no longer want to get contacted for my listing?

A4) Choose the option "My account information:" and then the option "View and/or update your listings" and then click on the listing number you'd like to update and change the "Activate or Suspend Listing" field to Suspended.  You may also go back and reactivate your listing if you have the need to do so.

Q5) I have some free time coming up and would like to make a delivery, but have no exiting trip already lined up.  How do I post a trip that I would be willing to make within a certain number of miles from my home?

A5) Post a trip making your origin and destination the same city while at the same time specifying the number of miles you are willing to drive out of your way.  In this case the miles you're willing to drive out of your way will be taken into account in every direction from your home base when potential customers are searching the database.  Once you've got a customer to complete the first leg of your trip, you might want to then post the 2nd half of your trip with the exact origin and destination cities again with any miles you're willing to drive out of your way.

Q6) I am getting close to making my trip and I haven't yet lined up a customer.  Do you have any suggestions for me?

A6) You may want to consider changing your listing and increasing the number of miles you are willing to drive out of your way which will expand search area for potential customers.  Since the database works worldwide, you may want to start at 0 for your miles out of the way, and then increase it only if you need to.  You may also want to enter your cell phone number into your profile if you haven't already.  That way you may still be contacted once you have left for your trip so you may line up a customer for your return while on the road.

Q7) Will Dead-Heading.com help me with the delivery agreements, payment collection, etc.?

A7) No.  Dead-Heading.com is not a party to the agreement that you enter into with users who are searching the database that contact you for your services or shippers you locate during your search of the database.

Q8) Will Dead-Heading.com protect my privacy?

A8) Yes.  Dead-Heading.com will never send you unsolicited email or ever provide your profile information to other companies for marketing or any other purposes.  Dead-Heading.com also elects not to store your credit card information and always uses the industry standard SSL encryption when transmitting your personal information to and from our server.

Q9) How long will my listing remain active?
A9) Your listing will remain active for a minimum of 3 months after your planned departure date or until you deactivate the listing yourself.
